Become a Child Development Major

The first step to becoming a Child Development Major is to become a Child Development Pre-Major – CHDP under the Psychology Department. For more information on changing your major, please follow the instructions on the TCU Center for Academic Services Website. At the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters, we will send out the Child Development Application to all pre-majors.

All students interested in becoming Child Development majors must apply to the program. In order to apply, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Sophomore Standing
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Clear Criminal Background Check (you will receive a link to complete the background check after submitting your application)
  • Completed Application
  • Have completed or currently enrolled in a CHDV course

Fall deadline: Sept. 1
Spring deadline: Feb. 1
